SETDA Announces New Board Members and Tools for Educators
SETDA welcomes John O’Connell and Geoff Fletcher to Board
and says good-bye to ed tech pioneer, Elsie Brumback of North Carolina.

SETDA is pleased to announce two leaders who have joined the Bo
ard of Directors: John O’Connell, Educational Technology Director for the Iowa Department of Education, and Geoff Fletcher, Editor at Large for the THE Journal and former Education Technology Director for the Texas Education Agency. Geoff will serve as the Emeritus Board member. John and Geoff join the following Board members who continue in their current terms:
- Lan Neugent, Virginia (Chair)
- Rick Gaisford, Utah (Vice Chair)
- Jayne Moore, Maryland (newly elected Secretary)
- Wayne Hartschuh (newly elected Treasurer)
- Anita Givens, Texas
- Melinda Maddox, Alabama
- Carla Wade, Oregon
SETDA would like to thank Elsie Brumback, former Educational Technology Director for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and founding SETDA member, for her five years of dedicated service to SETDA. She is retiring, but SETDA will continue to call on Elsie to share her expertise with the SETDA membership and partners. Elsie’s imprint and leadership are apparent throughout SETDA’s work, events, and the educational technology community.
New ToolsSETDA also recently released its 2006 Leadership Summit Toolkit. Developed in collaboration with corporate partners, the toolkit includes the following four chapters:
- Showing Evidence of Educational Technology’s Effectiveness with Intel Innovation in Education
- Using Data for School Reform with Educational Testing Services (ETS)
- Technology’s Role in Math Curriculum with Texas Instruments (TI)
- Standards & Curriculum Alignment with JES & Co.
“As we developed the content of the tools, strong relationships were made and the process highlighted the value of public-private partnerships to improve education.” said SETDA’s Executive Director, Mary Ann Wolf, PhD. “These incredibly effective partnerships resulted in solid resources that are freely available to all education stakeholders.”
