The Speak Up 2007 national findings have been released. Click here to view findings. Nearly 370,000 students, teachers, administrators and parents from all 50 states shared their ideas on science, math, technology and 21st century skills through Speak Up 2007.

Data Quality Campaign - Using Data to Improve Student Achievement

SETDA is a Managing Partner of The Data Quality Campaign (DQC) which is a national, collaborative effort to encourage and support state policymakers to improve the collection, availability, and use of high-quality education data, and implement state longitudinal data systems to improve student achievement.
 
CCSSO’s State Education Data Center launched SchoolDataDirect which includes a tool enabling users to download data directly from the website. Much of what is contained in the Coordinated Data Ask is available on this website and ready to download. For more information visit the SchoolDataDirect site www.SchoolDataDirect.org.

iTunes U K-12 Launch SETDA worked with Apple to help states launch free content for K-12 educators via Apple's iTunes U. AZ, FL, ME, MI, NJ, PA and UT, along with other educational institutions are now sharing resources for K-12 educators via iTunes U. This initiative strives to create a destination where professional development, curricula resources, examples of best practices and student samples are easily accessible. Student Engagement Tool On June 30, 2008, SETDA released a free, online resource that helps teachers use technology to engage students more effectively in core subject areas like math, science, social studies and reading. The tool entitled, “Teacher’s and Technology’s Role in Student Engagement” addresses the need for all teachers to use rigorous digital content and new teaching strategies to increase student engagement. Mexicans soon will be able to pay for small purchases such as restaurant meals and taxi rides using their mobile telephones, Reuters reports.
